With the largest aging population in Canadian history, the numbers of retirees requiring residential facilities has never been higher. With this comes an increasing need for more internal services that provide for the collective. The Colonel Belcher Facility in Calgary is home to many Canadian war veterans who share similar life stories. The multi-purpose room hosts informal gatherings and grand social events alike. A new integrated cafe and bar were introduced that addresses the larger gathering space. The self-service cafe is intimate in scale while the curving long bar has been designed to allow for dining height chairs that can now accommodate both bar and informal small food service.
